NOVA

NOVA User Guide - Quick Setup

  1. Have your build ready for doors to be included or, in the case of a prefab, place the house and either save or freeze depending on the Rez system.

  2. Rez the NOVA System Rezzer v1.4
    • Click on the NOVA System Rezzer v1.4 box and choose "Rez".
    • Click on the NOVA System Rezzer v1.4 box and choose "Save".
** If you do not choose "Save" remember to remove the "Structure Piece" script from any prims you use. Do not include this NOVA System Rezzer "Structure Piece" script in the door/curtain prims you build with. **

  3. Copy components of the system from the mini-demo
    • Prepare folders in your inventory to contain the contents for each of: Controller, Slave, Double Door Left, Double Door Right, Sliding Door, and Curtain. See Overview for the contents of each of those components.
    • Edit the mini-demo and check "Edit Linked Parts". Then, select each of: Controller, Slave, Front Door (left), Front Door (right), [Sliding] Door, and [Curtain], and copy the Contents of each into its respective folder.
    • Copy the blank Controller prim if desired (you can also build your own).

  4. Copy blank doors and/or curtains or create door and/or curtain prims for your build
    • Rez the NOVA System Blank Door Packs if you would like to use the full-perm, pre-cut doors or curtains provided with this system.
      • Follow the rezzer instructions above to rez the blanks from the box, and choose "Save" from the rezzer menu to remove the "Structure Piece" scripts. You can also choose not to "Save" -- in this case, copy door/curtain sets and remove the "Structure Piece" script manually from the copies.
    • See details for constructing double doors, constructing sliding doors, or constructing curtains for this system.
    • Position blank prims in the build.
    • Name each set of doors and curtains so that each set has a different name. (e.g., "Front Door", "Side Door", "Balcony Curtains", "Great Room Curtains", etc.)

  5. Prepare the Controller prim for your build
    • REMOVE THE MINI-DEMO FIRST
      • If you chose "Save" when rezzing, delete the rezzed mini-demo
      • If you did not choose "Save", click the rezzing box and choose "Derez" from the menu
    • Texture the Controller prim to match your build, but do not apply locked/unlocked indicator textures to the prim faces. These are applied to the prim through the controller script.
    • When sizing/rotating your Controller prim, note the rotation of the Controller in the mini demo. The controller script will apply the indicator textures to the two "end" faces that are in the Controller prim contents.
    • Position your Controller prim in the build.
    • Add the Controller contents to the Contents of your Controller prim. When adding the contents to the Controller prim, pause before continuing to allow the scripts to recompile and reset. See details

  6. Make Slave Controller(s) if desired
    • Use the Slave Controller blank prim from the mini-demo or make your own.
    • Add the Slave Controller contents to the Contents of your Slave Controller prim(s). When adding the contents to the Slave Controller prim, pause before continuing to allow the scripts to recompile and reset. See details

  7. Prepare the doors and curtains for your build
    • Add the door/curtain contents to the Contents tab of each door or curtain prim. If you are using double doors, note that the "Left" door is to your left as you face the door from outside the building.
    • Pause after adding each script to allow the scripts to recompile and reset.

  8. For non-lockable, standalone curtains, touch each curtain to open and close before continuing to the initialization and set-up step

  9. Initialize and set up the door controller system
    • Click the Controller prim that you have scripted for your build.
    • From the menu, click RESET and then pause.
    • Then click LOCK ALL and then pause. You should see the texture on your Controller (and any Slave Controllers) change to the "locked" indicator texture.
    • Then click UNLOCK ALL and then pause. You should see the texture on your Controller (and any Slave Controllers) change to the "unlocked" indicator texture.
    • Click the door to open it. Doors should open and autoclose in a few seconds.
    • If the doors behave badly, repeat the RESET, LOCK ALL, UNLOCK ALL sequence. Also review troubleshooting tips for more information.

  10. Prepare your door system to be part of a build you will sell or transfer to someone else
    • Edit your Controller prim and switch to the Contents tab.
    • Rightclick the Door Control v7.32 script and select Properties.
    • Change the script permissions to No Transfer (remove the checkmark from "Resell/Give Away".
    • Speak in open chat: Configure
    • Click through the confirmation that you want to configure the system for sale.
